A native Californian, George McGhee has achieved the reputation of a artist with a unique eye for detail. Much of his early career was spent studying styles of landscape, and seascape painters of the past.
Artist such as Thomas Cole and Frederick Church have influenced him greatly. As masters of the American Luminous Style, Cole and Church studied and painted in the Hudson River School era during the 1800's. Building on this inspiration with over 30 years of experience. George has emerged in the 21st century with his own approach in his art work. His subjects range from land and seascapes to wildlife and marine subjects.
George's visions are some times revealed in various shades and shadows of his paintings. As his brush moves across his canvassed world of lights, darks, and earth tone colors, and his subjects emote life and dimension that allows viewers to feel transported to places that somehow speak to both the imagination and earthliness.
His recent works have been influenced by the California Coastlands, and his many visits the most of the Hawaiian Islands, where he admits to finding subjects and resources of endless beauty.
George has won several awards honoring his artistic achievements, as well as his paintings , and reproductions are widely collected throughout the United States and Internationally.
He is also a member of THE AMERICAN CETACEAN SOCIETY.
ART IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE THAT IS NEVER SPOKEN ALOUD, BUT FELT IN THE HEART AND SOUL. A SLIENT LANGUAGE FOR WHICH THERE IS NO NEED OF OCTAVES, JUST PASSION.
